Versat Automobile Limited has launched the versatile C&C 400 truck range into Nigeria’s construction, haulage, and logistics sectors on Friday.
The unveiling took place at the company’s Lekki, Lagos office, attended by motoring press, stakeholders, guests, and partners from Chery Commercial Vehicle International (C&C Trucks) in China.
Produced by C&C Trucks—a Chery-CIMC joint venture—these 6×4 trucks feature a powerful 400HP Yuchai diesel engine with Euro 6 emissions, ideal for heavy-duty tasks in Nigeria’s demanding logistics environment. They deliver high torque (up to 1900Nm), a large 700L fuel tank for long hauls, and reliable performance on poor roads and overloaded routes.
Key Powertrain Highlights
- 41L Yuchai engine (294kW) suited for high-heat conditions.
- 12-speed FAST transmission and Pengxiang rear axle for smooth handling on uneven terrain.
- 40,000kg drawing capacity, perfect for port containers or bulk goods.
Safety and Durability Features
- ECE-R29 compliant cab with 4-point floating suspension to absorb shocks from potholes and rough rural roads.
- High brake pressure (10 bars) and reinforced frame for stability under heavy loads and frequent stops in Lagos traffic.
The user-friendly design includes an ergonomic cabin with CAN-BUS intelligence, low drag coefficient (0.53), and 110km/h top speed, optimizing fuel efficiency and driver comfort for extended Nigerian operations. These features set the C&C 400 apart from competitors by emphasizing safety, efficiency, and adaptation to local challenges like poor infrastructure.
At the event, Executive Director, Ebere Anenih called the launch a defining moment for Versat Automobile Limited.
“This is not just about unveiling trucks—it’s about introducing a brand built on vision, experience, and a deep commitment to supporting Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth,” she said.
Anenih noted that Versat was founded by automotive professionals with decades of experience, backed by investors who value infrastructure, mobility, and logistics for national development. “Our mission is to provide durable, efficient transportation solutions engineered for Nigeria’s realities—vehicles that deliver value without compromise.’’
She highlighted that the heavy-duty range was selected for logistics, construction, and infrastructure demands, built for performance, durability, and uptime in partnership with C&C Trucks. “Their global expertise, combined with our market knowledge and after-sales support, ensures trucks that are competitive worldwide but relevant locally—for our roads, climate, loads, and business needs.
“Aftersales Manager, Ifeanyi Igbokwe emphasized the “Versatile Aftersales Advantage,” a customer-focused system to minimize downtime.
“We prioritize spare parts availability, with inventory for scheduled maintenance and urgent repairs—because time lost is revenue lost,” he said. Investments include trained technicians, continuous support from partners, and a service network adapted to Nigerian conditions.

Every truck comes with a two-year or 200,000km warranty, underscoring product quality. “Customers aren’t just buying a truck—they’re getting a complete support system for uptime, reliability, and long-term value. Versat stands behind every vehicle,” Igbokwe added.
The event closed with a plaque presentation to Mr. Frank Ofodile, who purchased 300 units.
